Next Workshop

Elaine stated, “I am compelled to study light and shadow, movement and curve. Often described as "bold" and "sensual", my art focuses on using value contrasts to intensify visual impact. The subjects depicted are a visual celebra:on of the drama unfolding in the natural world. I am always aiming to evoke the emo:on, awe and wonder I experience when I first encounter my subjects. Foliage, trees, flowers, and nature's cycles serve as metaphors for my inner world and allow communica:on and connec:on with the world through universally-understood themes of personal growth, wonder, self-acceptance, loss and healing, joy, and the cycles of life. In 2015 Elaine received the "Teacher of the Year" Award from the Canadian Quilter's Association.

Elaine's work has been juried into, and selected for awards at numerous international and national exhibits and has been widely published. Her recent accomplishments include being published in the Spring of 2015 issue of "Hosta Journal"(a publication of the American Hosta Society), being " Featured Artist" in the June/July 2014 issue of Quilting Arts Magazine, being chosen as one of the 21 artists featured in the book "Art Quilt": Portfolio :Natural World by Lark Books in 2012 and receiving a First Place award in the Art-Naturescapes category at the International Quilt Association's annual juried and judged show in Houston, Texas in 2013.ike your work to have more depth, dimension and detail, or would you like to apply a new medium to fabric?  In each of these one day classes, students will learn about the properties of the products, as well as how to use them. Harrison Hot Springs Fall Retreat

leaves quilt for Harrison

Date: October 12, 13, 14 and 15, 2018

Registration for our annual retreat will be at the April meeting. Last year the third night was so successful we will be again offering either two or three nights at Harrison.

Two nights: October 13 and 14 and includes dinner Friday and Saturday and breakfast Saturday and Sunday. Total price is $435.00

Three nights: October 13, 14 and 15 and includes the meals that are in the two night package and coffee on Monday morning. Total price is $535.00

All three night participants need to be rooming with another 3 night participants. So if you have a preferred roommate please make sure you are both planning to stay the same length of time. If you do not have a preferred roommate we will try and match you up.

In an effort to simplify a number of things for the guild, Cathy and I will be using a joint bank account to manage the Harrison money. This keeps the funds out of guild accounts. So that means cheques are to be made payable to either Cathy Galbraith or Lynne Fanthorpe.

If you have any questions please contact me.
